Bob Jones

The Bob Jones Trail from Salisbury Vineyard to Avila Beach is the most heavily used recreation facility in SLO County. On weekends, it risks becoming a happy shoulder-to-shoulder bicycle, stroller, wheelchair, roller-skate and dog-walking traffic jam. It is a place where every type of person feels safe being active in whatever way they can and it’s a favorite among parents looking to teach their kids how to ride a bicycle. Trailhead parking is always packed and restaurants, cafés, and boutiques in Avila beach bustle with customers.

Nevertheless, the plan to make the Bob Jones a City to Sea Trail all the way from San Luis Obispo to Avila Beach remains unfinished.

A completed Bob Jones trail will invite residents and visitors to enjoy the views of the Avila Valley and experience the wonders of San Luis Obispo County’s agricultural heritage including the Historic Octagon Barn. It will increase the economic impact by connecting the trail with additional local businesses along the route and remind everyone that San Luis Obispo County is the right active healthy destination for them.
