On Tuesday July 10, 2012 the Arroyo Grande city council approved their Bicycle & Trails Master Plan!
Approved bike plan, so what?
With a comprehensive and approved plan, a city has improved access to major state and federal infrastructure and programming grants. Not only do bike plans allow cities access to more funding sources, they also provide the guidance necessary to continue development in a manner that directly improves the economic, physical, and environmental health of a community. The plans create a list of projects and priorities, acting as a guide for future bicycle improvements and infrastructure for years to come.
The SLO County Bicycle Coalition has contributed to the approval of bike plans in San Luis Obispo City, Paso Robles, Atascadero, Morro Bay, Grover Beach, Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo County… and now Arroyo Grande! With Arroyo Grande’s plan approved, every jurisdiction in SLO County now has a current bike plan, this is wonderful news!
