De Anza Path – Meeting this Thursday

Imagine a family, riding their bicycles all the way from San Luis Obispo to Pismo Beach, without ever being on a roadway. That is our hope for the future of the De Anza path.

This essential connection of the De Anza path is on the agenda for this Thursday’s SLO County Parks Commission meeting. This meeting is open to the public, and we’d encourage you to go to show your support for this project.

When: Thursday, April 26, 2012, 6:00pm
Where: SLO County Building, 1055 Monterey St, San Luis Obispo (map)
What:  Tell the Commission to recommend that the County Board of Supervisors use funds from the Public Facilities Fund-Parks to buy these old railroad rights of way. Doing this will GREATLY simplify the eventual building of the portion of the De Anza multi use path between SLO and Pismo Beach and probably save decades of work.

Currently, there are two parcels available for purchase, without acquiring them now, the future of this path is certain to take multiple decades to move forward.
