SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (SLOCOG)
SEEKING INPUT ON BICYCLING BEHAVIORS
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – March 22, 2013 — The San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG) and partners want to know more about bicycling behaviors in SLO County. This week, a survey is being mailed to 2,000 randomly selected individuals, asking for their input on bicycling in the community. SLOCOG is encouraging everyone who receives the survey to fill it out and return it, regardless of their bicycling habits.
The survey was requested by members of the public during the 2011 Transit and Bicycle Needs Hearing. It is funded by SLOCOG and the Air Pollution Control District and carried out by the San Luis Obispo County Bicycle Coalition.
Data gathered from the survey will be made available to the public on the SLOCOG website (slocog.org) in August 2013 and used to develop programming and infrastructure investment priorities. The survey will also help increase understanding of the current bicycling system and its use as a transportation option.

About SLOCOG
The San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG) is an association of local governments in the San Luis Obispo County Region. Its members include all 7 cities (Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, and San Luis Obispo) as well as unincorporated areas of San Luis Obispo County. The central purpose of SLOCOG is to examine common regional problems and suggest solutions. SLOCOG provides transportation planning and funding for the region, and serves as a forum for the study and resolution of regional issues. In addition to preparing the region’s long-range transportation plan, SLOCOG plans regional public transit and other alternative methods of transportation.

The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) is responsible for ensuring that SLO County achieves and maintains attainment with National and State health base air quality standards.
About the San Luis Obispo County Bicycle Coalition
The San Luis Obispo County Bicycle Coalition is the voice for bicycles in San Luis Obispo County. The Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides bicycle advocacy, education, and inspiration for the public through numerous community-based programs including the Bike Valet at the SLO Farmers’ Market, Kidical Mass, the Bike Kitchen, education workshops and more.
